[5964] Emma, Edward and Lucy are all buried near their brother John and his family. There is a large tombstone inscribed with their names stating that they are the children of L.L. and J. Jones, as well as 3 individual headstones. They all died in 1881 which makes me wonder if there was an epidemic in the county at that time.
[5969] Possible cause of death: Cholera infantum - A common, noncontagious diarrhea of young children, occurring in summer or autumn. In the nineteenth century it was considered indigenous to the United States; was prevalent during the hot weather in most of the towns of the middle and southern states, as well as many western areas; and was characterized by gastric pain, vomiting, purgation, fever, and prostration. It was common among the poor and in hand-fed babies. Death frequently occurred in three to five days. Synonyms: summer complaint, weaning brash, water gripes, choleric fever of children, cholera morbus.
[5971] There is a tombstone for E.J.J. but also an obilesk shared with two other sibilings. They are remembered as the Children of L.L. and J. Jones and buried near the John Fredrick Jones family.
