Painting is a new interest of mine that I really enjoy. I've only been
at it for a couple of years or so. I was able to take a class once a week
where the instructor let you pick a project and then talked you through
when you needed assistance. She has now PCSed back to the States
but I think I know enough to continue on my own.
After my teacher left, I didn't paint anything for
several months. It was easier to get something done when I left the
house once a week for a few hours. Then in Novemeber my husband had
a week long TDY and I found it relaxing to stay up late into the night
and paint. That week I finished three projects and made great progress
on Laura's Raggedy Anne and Andy, my second large project, but it's
still not done! .
I
really like Noah's ark things and the lion and lamb theme so I thought
these three were really cute. It is from Promises Kept by Jayna
James. I still need to give Noah
his staff for his hand however.
I
thought this little girl and her flower pot were sweet. I had the
mini flower pot and sunflower so I just needed to find some ivy.
She is in New Found Friends by Jackie Ehman & Brenda Price.
My
favorite flowers are pansies so when I saw this little flower box girl,
I just knew I had to make her. I asked my mum to send me some silk
pansies and put her together.
This is
my most detailed and largest project to date. I wanted to do this bed-topper
for Megan's eighth birthday present so I started working on it last summer.
Unfortunately, Mark went to Bosnia so my class time was put on hold. The
classes were in the evening and it was too late to keep a sitter out. After
the new year and Mark's return I was able to work on it again but it still
took me until May to finish it. I'm really pleased with how it turned out,
especially since I changed the girl's hair to brown rather than the blond
shown in the book. This way she resembled Megan in color.
