Japanese gas mask. The man who originally owned it related this story: "My Dad served aboard the troop ship USS Gasconade during World War II. He was stationed on this ship that was approximately 500 yards from the battleship Missouri during the signing of the surrender. A Japanese soldier traded my Dad this old mask for an American cigarette.".

Deactivated Japanese Type 97 hand grenade. The grenade was activated by pulling a pin (missing from this example), then tapping the brass top before throwing.

US 4 pocket tunic worn by N.H. Lumnah, who served in the China-Burma-India area with the 14th Air Force. The left shoulder patch shows the distinctive 14th Air Force insignia of a flying tiger - the famous American Volunteer Group (AVG) or, as they're more commonly known, the Flying Tigers, evolved into the 14th Air Force.

Navy pea coat and white dixie cup hat worn by MM2c Joseph Delaney. Mr. Delaney was awarded the Silver Star for heroism while serving aboard the USS South Dakota. During the battles around Savo island on the night of 14-15 November, 1942, he was responsible for putting out a fire in an ammunition bunker, saving a large number of lives and preventing serious damage to the ship.

Memo sending personal congratulations from the Commanding Officer of the USS South Dakota to Mr. Delaney along with his Silver Star medal.

Japanese Army paybook, giving the soldier's particulars, such as units of assignment, promotions, awards earned, etc. This book was carried by Takejiro Kurosawa. It lists his birthdate as 9 August, 1927, and that he was born in Gunma-Ken.
