Photograph mailed home by a B-24 crew member (on the right) serving in the South Pacific, showing his plane displaying nose art of the US as a bowling ball knocking over Japan.

US M-1 steel helmet and liner worn by Technical Sergeant Bill Wilson while serving with the infantry in the Pacific.

Standard issue Japanese infantryman's steel helmet. This an Imperial Army example as denoted by the star; Japanese Marines wore an anchor superimposed with a chrysanthemum. The helmet has a pig skin liner, onto which the soldier who wore it stitched his name with white thread.

Privately made Ike style jacket for a man in the 2nd Marine Division. The distinctive shoulder patch was sewn on with white thread in a "cross X" pattern -popular with the troops but completely unofficial.

Marine Corps 4 pocket tunic worn by Frank F. Cramer, Jr., who participated in the invasion of Okinawa as a member of Marine Aircraft Group Forty Three. This tunic has corporal's stripes on it, but he eventually was promoted to Staff Sergeant. Also visible is his marksmanship medal, and the ribbon for the Asiatic-Pacfic Campaign Medal.
