Dress uniform, or "Gala" jacket of an East German Oberleutnant (1st Lieutenant), made in the same pattern as Soviet officer's uniform.(Donated by Dan Faulkner, LTC, USAF (Retired).

Uniform of a Soviet Corporal. The red shoulder straps denote the man was in a Motorized Rifle unit, while the cyrillic "CA" stands for "Sovet Army". On the right breast is the badge of the Soviet Guards unit and on the left, the medal for the 30 year jubilee of the Soviet Armed Forces. This uniform is nearly identical to the style worn in World War II.

East German Army helmet. This style helmet had been planned as a replacement for the German helmet during World War II but never was adopted. When equipping the new East German Armed Forces, the Russians chose this helmet rather than the old model helmet to avoid any resemblance to the "fascist" armies of Nazi Germany.

Uniform and visor hat of Private Tino Berger, a soldier in the "National Volks Armee" - the East German Army. Mirroring the pattern of tunics worn in WWII, East German uniforms remained unchanged until the fall of the Berlin Wall. Unlike their West German counterparts, East German soldiers who had served in WWII were prohibited from wearing their wartime decorations and medals. (Donated by Dan Faulkner, LTC,USAF (Retired)
