We cordially invite you to become a member of Centerville United Methodist Women (CUMW). Membership in United Methodist Women is voluntary and intentional. This means any woman may become a member by accepting our invitation, being committed to our Purpose, and participating in our activities. Membership begins when you contact the current president of CUMW.

The Purpose of United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of

women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole

persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship,

and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global

            ministries of the church.

All members are encouraged to participate in the various activities by which we fulfill the Purpose. We offer both group and individual opportunities for prayer, study, service, mission outreach, fellowship and fun. Our quarterly gatherings (March, June, September, and December) offer a mix of education and celebration, with time for food and fellowship. The resources of our own UMW library are available to participants in the yearly Reading Program. We provide the resources for the women of Nova House to make Christmas cookies and Easter baskets, and we serve meals three times a year at St. Paul UMC and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Our members participate in many UMW activities sponsored by the Miami Valley District and the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Many members belong to one of our circles, small groups that gather monthly from September to June for fellowship, support and enrichment. Currently we have three program-based circles: Friendship (meets 2nd Monday at 7:30 PM), Hannah (meets 2nd Tuesday at 9:30 AM) and Sarah (meets 2nd Tuesday at noon). The Martha Circle (meets the 3rd Monday at 9:30 AM) plans a variety of service projects throughout the year.

We raise our money through individual Pledges to Mission, and two yearly fundraisers. For more than 40 years, our members (and friends and family) have gathered to make peanut brittle for five weeks in the fall. In recent years we added a Cookie Walk, Craft Sale and Luncheon on the first Saturday of December.

We look forward to having you attend one of our events and become involved with Centerville United Methodist Women.
