Come to the Oasis

All women of the church are invited to hear Reverend Sharon Amos on Tuesday, March 4 at CUMC. Reverend Amos will speak about her ministry with Oasis House, which offers support and help to women who live and work in the North Dixie Drive strip.

The UMW members of Normandy UMC have been invited to join us. The evening will begin with a potluck supper at 6:30 PM in Heritage Hall. All CUMW members should bring a side dish (salad, vegetable, or dessert) to share. Turkey, ham, and drinks will be provided.

We are collecting candles, nail polish, toiletries, gas cards, or Kroger gift cards for this outreach ministry. Oasis House is also collecting formal dresses for a fund-raising project, as well as gently used clothes and accessories for their women’s boutique.

Come and bring your friends to hear about this inspiring mission!

Two Opportunities for Hands on Mission

CUMW has invited the women of Nova House to CUMC for an Easter Egg Decorating Party on Tuesday, March 18, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Each woman will decorate eggs and assemble an Easter basket for her children. If you wish to donate supplies or help on the day, please contact the church office or your circle leader.

The members of CUMW (and friends) will serve lunch at St. Paul UMC on April 22. If you wish to contribute supplies or help serve the lunch, please contact the church office or your circle leader.

Save these Dates

The Miami Valley District will sponsor a spiritual retreat on Saturday, April 12. The theme is "Resurrection Women." Please check the UMW Bulletin Board for details as they become available. 

Our second unit gathering for 2008 will be held on Tuesday, June 3, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. All women are invited to share dessert and hear about the "West Bank Story."

Coming this Summer

It's the annual West Ohio Conference School of Christian Mission, July 25-27 (weekend) or July 28-31 (week) at Ohio Northern University. The studies for 2008 are I Believe in Jesus; Giving Our Hearts Away: Native American Survival; and Israel-Palestine. Scholarships are available for first time attendees; check with the church office for information.

CUMW Circle Meetings

March—June 2008

Centerville United Methodist Women has four subgroups known as circles. These circles are small groups of women meeting every month except July and August for fellowship and mission-oriented programming that reflects the needs and interests of their members. All women are invited to attend any meeting of these groups.

Friendship Circle meets on the 2^nd Monday of the month at 7:30 PM at the church. The circle will meet on March 10 for a program on "The Icing on the Cake: UMW, Money, and Mission;" on April 14 to prepare crafts for the December Cookie Walk and Craft Sale; on May 12 for "God’s Mission, God’s Song;" and on June 9 at 6:30 PM for dinner out, place TBA.

Hannah Circle meets on the 2^nd Tuesday of the month at 9:30 AM at the church. The circle will meet on March 11 to discuss Chapter 4 of Encouraging One Another; on April 8 to prepare sack lunches for St. Vincent; on May 13 to make crafts for the December Cookie Walk and Craft Sale; and on June 3 at 9:00 AM for brunch, place TBA.

Sarah Circle meets the 2^nd Tuesday of the month at noon at the church. The circle will meet on March 11 to recognize the World Day of Prayer; on April 8 for an Easter program; on May 13 for a book review of Leap of Faith; and on June 10 for lunch.

Martha Circle meets the 3^rd Monday of the month at 9:30 AM at the church. The circle will meet on March 17 to prepare meals for shut-ins and cookies for the church visitation team; on April 21 to prepare casseroles for the St. Paul luncheon and to work as needed for May Market; and on May 19 at 10:00 AM for brunch at The Original Pancake House.
