KITCHEN GARDEN:

The kitchen garden is undergoing a renaissance. As store-bought produce reaches new levels of
uniformity, there is a movement toward growing vegetables, herbs, and fruit naturally in the
home garden. The modern kitchen garden is neither a small patch of herbs outside the kitchen
window nor an elaborate ornamental potager that is too beautiful to touch. As author Patrick
Bowe notes in his introduction, kitchen gardening is a combination of *beauty and utility.*
Focusing primarily on the aesthetics of this new garden form, The Complete Kitchen Garden is a
study in design for the home gardener. Garden site and size considerations are followed by
recommendations for constructing paths, edges, beds, walls, fences and other architectural
elements. Lists of appropriate plants provide a melange of color, form, and texture choices to
help ensure a successful kitchen garden. There are even resources for seed suppliers and public
kitchen gardens around the world.Throughout the book are examples of noteworthy kitchen
gardens in the U.S., Europe, and Canada, both modest and grand, for inspiration. A wealth of
beautiful photography by Cynthia Woodyard helps make this book a comprehensive tool for
beginning kitchen gardeners everywhere.

RESIDENTIAL FRAMING
Author: WILLIAM P SPENCE

So many folks have asked about Framing Square How To's and just knowing how to frame an addition etc. This book
is an easy read and has a lot of pictures and illustrations. It is available at Amazon Books Online for about $14.00 but I
found it at a Home Center for $8 or $9 in softback.
I would rate this as excellent.

2nd. Edition CARPENTRY AND CONSTRUCTION
Authors: Rex Miller and Glenn E Baker

Another good read for information on the fundamentals of building a home. Lots of illustrations and a varied subject
book.
This one is excellent also.
