DONET INTERNET SOLUTIONS: EARNING HIGH MARKS WITH SINCLAIR STUDENTS, CENTERVILLE RESIDENTS, AND FASHION DESIGNERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Dayton, Ohio

It’s hard to imagine a student at Sinclair Community College, a homeowner in Centerville, and a fashion designer in New York City having much in common. However, all three now benefit directly from high-tech Internet solutions implemented by Dayton-based DONet, Inc.

Making the Grade at Sinclair

Sinclair Community College is the largest two-year college in the state of Ohio, serving more than 20,000 students. All those students and instructors need reliable, robust, high-capacity Internet access.

“We were using up our available bandwith,” says David Krasofsky, Manager of Systems and Network Administration at Sinclair. “We also sought to build in redundancy to back up our existing ISP, OARnet, which serves public colleges in Ohio.”

“DONet recommended a wireless, microwave solution that delivers high speed, but is completely independent of existing Internet infrastructure,” says Krasofsky. As part of this solution, DONet incorporated Cisco core routers installed and managed by DONet Network Engineers. This solution provides more than double the bandwith capacity, and offers vital back-up to the existing Internet service.

“DONet delivers superior customer service,” says Krasofsky. “They go above and beyond what they’ve been contracted for.”

A Makeover for Centerville’s Website

The city of Centerville wanted to update the look and functionality of its website. After a careful analysis of various proposals from a dozen candidates, DONet was selected for the task.

“DONet is providing the city of Centerville with a completely updated website, as well as email and Internet services,” according to Tom Ireland, Director of Operations for the Miami Valley Communications Council, which provides common technology services for eight south Dayton suburbs, including Centerville. “Their new website solution will be easier for citizens to navigate, and provide a more coherent look across all city departments. In addition, it will be designed so it can be updated more easily, and will offer flexibility to provide additional services in the future, such as online bill payment and other advanced applications.”

“DONet is a very responsible organization,” says Ireland. “We have a great business relationship.”

Fashioning a Style Reference for the Internet

Where do fashion designers find inspiration? They discover it from various sources, ranging from simply observing people on the street, to historical references such as classic books, magazines or movies. Now creative types in the fashion world can also find inspiration and visual references online, thanks to the brand-new StyleSight website that DONet is helping to fashion.

Among the features of the StyleSight website (www.StyleSight.com) will be a fashion search engine that will be available to those in the fashion industry, including individual designers seeking to make a mark in the business, instantly recognizable fashion “names”, and top retailers that put an emphasis on style and fashion in their lines. This search engine will feature thousands of reference photographs, including images that capture the latest trends from New York, Paris, Milan and other fashion capitals.

DONet is providing all the services this new venture needs, including website hosting, databases, and the capacity to store hundreds of gigabytes of fashion image dataÉ making sure it is easily accessible to subscribers.

For StyleSight, it’s the perfect match. “DONet is providing us with tailor-made solutions to our specific, unique needs,” says Franklin Bober, founder of StyleSight. “Our clients depend on our website during the workday, so it’s critically important the website is completely functional during those hours, and DONet delivers.” Bober adds, “With DONet, we get the level of service and attention we need as a new company.”
